In November 2010 we hosted the Central Area Regional Competitions.

A great deal of planning goes into hosting a competition between Aero Clubs particularly at a very busy airport with International and domestic airline arrivals.

 

   

The day of competition dawned fine and clear and teams from Tauranga, Te Kuiti, Taumarunui, New Plymouth and Hawera took on the locals in events such as Life Raft Dropping, Bombing, Navigation, Precision Circuits & Landings and Aerobatics.

 

    

Our club is made up of a mixture of enthusiastic private pilot’s, professional instructors and trainee pilots who aspire to airline or other professional flying jobs. A competition like this brings us all together either in the air or as ground volunteers and more than likely both.

     

Whatever their final placing all the competitors came away with improved skills and knowledge that can only be gained when challenging yourself to fly to an exacting standard.
